These days it's hard to distinguish between those who genuinely want to help others and those with PR or ego as a motivator. As long as good is done though it doesn't really matter too much.

Still it is remarkable when those with nothing to gain put so much effort towards a cause. While these kind of things happen everyday, there is a website that recognizes 20 people under 20 who have really gone above and beyond what most would consider a good deed.


In 2003, Melanie Bell wrote, illustrated and self-published a 96 page bilingual poetry book, "Tears for the World". 100% of the proceeds from the sale of this book are donated to Farmers Helping Farmers, a PEI based organization that assists farmers in Africa through agricultural means.


I sure as hell was not thinking like that at 18.
